“Decolonizing the Bible” is for you if:
You desire reconciliation and redemption with people who have been harmed by the Church/Christianity;
You’ve read the Bible only/primarily through a Eurocentric white lens;
Your Bible studies were taught using the NIV, NKJV or ESV;
You grew up believing Jesus is white (spoiler alert: he’s not!)
If you’re still not sure whether this series is for you, here’s a taste of what you’ll get:
Rosie Yeung (she/her) is a Coach, Speaker and Educator for Justice, Equity, Decolonization and Inclusion (JEDI), helping people with privilege dismantle systemic inequity while helping people without privilege survive it. She is a Christian, a Certified HR Leader, and a Chartered Professional Accountant, and holds certificates in coaching, inclusion, Indigenous history, human rights, and more. Rosie is a baptized member of East Toronto Chinese Baptist Church since 2006 and a graduate of the Arrow Executive Leadership program.
Rosie has spent the last 10 years studying the Bible with Bible Study Fellowship, two of those as a Small Group Leader and Facilitator. She completed this four-week Freedom Road study last year, then taught it in Sunday School to her church. Rosie loved the Decolonizing the Bible series so much, she went on to complete Level 2, an 8-week study taught live by Lisa Sharon Harper and René August.
Rosie is the creator and host of the Changing Lenses Podcast, shifting our worldview on work and business by looking through a JEDI lens. Based in Toronto, Canada, Rosie enjoys travel (except during global pandemics), and has served communities in Guatemala, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda. To de-stress, Rosie enjoys movies, popcorn and ice cream – often simultaneously!
