Changing Lenses is hosted on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Anishinaabe, the Huron-Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis people. These territories were taken under Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties.
The negotiation of Treaties across Turtle Island, while seemingly honourable and legal, was often marked by fraud and coercion. As we walk the path of Truth and Reconciliation, let us decolonize our thinking, as well as our systems.
